Helping Others

Bio Brats

Intention: To equip the young participants with the tools, resources and education that will enable them to complete a series of environmental projects.

We are dedicated to working proactively with families at the earliest point of intervention to provide children and young people with the opportunity to achieve their aspirations and potential to succeed in life'.
The intention is to promote and educate us all on the challenges faced and possible solutions to help with overcoming the decline of our endangered species of native flora and fauna... A GREAT environmental challenge!
Bio Brats is facing this challenge head on and seeking to eliminate pests from the Mangaehuehu Scenic Reserve in order restore and enhance the native habitat to encourage the natural colonization of native species as well as to promote conservation awareness and community involvement.
The BioBrats will also receive education on bush and stream safety and awareness as well as education on best practice for monitoring and identifying flora and fauna in the reserve.
The Program is broken into units with the main "Threats and Treasures" scheduled to start in Oct 2016. The work and education that they are currently receiving is set up so there will be informed entry into the Threats and Treasures programme.
