Helping Others

Mentoring

Our Mentoring program is a direct response to the growing number of youth that are either falling through the cracks at school or are already at risk.

The goal of the program is to identify youths who are going to have a turbulent transition to adulthood and offer positive interventions to avoid issues that can negatively impact their lives. The focus is slightly different at each level but the goal remains the same; to empower our youth to make positive changes in their lives.
Dream Makers Trust will focus primarily on youth aged 10 - 18 years. Research has shown that this age group is particularly challenging and a perfect time for mentoring to be effective.
Dream Makers Trust’s mentoring programs will pair a youth with a mentor for an initial period of 3 months. During this time they will participate in weekly planned activities to strengthen the relationship between them and improve the young person’s confidence and hopefulness. Mentors will receive continuous training throughout this time and will participate in monthly meetings to report on the young person’s progress. Over time, Dream Makers Trust will create a learning environment that will be an invaluable resource for young people, mentors and the community at large.
