15 October 2016 - Well today after months of preparation we made it to the Mud Muster 2016 at Shelterview Speedway at Upok! YAY!!!!
What an awesome Dream Makers team. Your 'yep I will do that' attitude was inspiring. Lara competed with a injured ankle, Robert hasn't long had knee surgery, Rangi you put the rest of us on the side lines to shame. Chase and Anaru Im sure we will see you two & Lara representing NZ one day.
A severely depleted group arrived at the venue so it was up to our Mentors and Facilitators to fill the gaps left by the last minute cancellations. Marianne Wright, Dallas Chase and George Potaka filling the roles of photographers and general dogs bodies with Robert Hawira and Rangi Bristol doing the business out on the trackl! :-) Thanks so much for accompanying our youth around the grueling 10km course!
Chase Bristol-Job was our youngest entrant at 10yrs old and when asked what course he was running he said 10k..ummmm the official changed it to 3k...much to Chases disgust!
Making the journey from Taumarunui was our partner organisation boss Jamie Turama Tuahuriri Downes from the Breakthrough Wellness Trust with one of our first mentees Anaru Moke...awesome to catch up with you Anaru and you did yourself proud boi..way to go! you blitzed that dude in the run for the finish line!! Also from Taumarunui accompanied by her mum and dad was Lara Dempsey who also did herself and us proud...you is one determined young lady and a pleasure to have you all on the team :-)
Look out next year! We'll have another team to be reckoned with!!
